Quark Logo double
As you guys might already know, Quark has a new logo. InDesign must be do so well, that quark has decided to do a little re-branding, to attract to the InDesign crowd. At first i though it was a fresh change from the old “old school looking” logo.
But now i find out that the Scottish Arts Council already has an almost identical logo. Yes, the Q fits better to Quark, but it’s still striking how close these two are.

The Q fits better to Quark? Yes, but in the other case it’s certainly meant to be an a as in art.

yeah you are right. but i think it would have been better for the Scottish arts council to include and S or something scottish related to the design.

The exact same logo, just rotated 180 degrees, is on Stereolab’s Margerine Eclipse album. But normally Duophonic use another logo.

They might as well go back to their original logo. What are your thoughts? [...]

Pretty embarrassing- especially since Quark is a maker of graphic design software. As a designer myself, I know that there is nothing new under the sun; whatever you designed, there’s already something like it out there.

Often ideas come and you think you’ve invented them, yet they are usually inspired by something you saw once.
