I know it’s been a little over 4 years since it first aired, but I just couldn’t go on living without publicly ranting about this campaign. So this is what I hate about these commercials and why:
The song. The early 2000′s were a terrible time for music. Pop still had a firm grip on the industry, Nickelcrap was being played on every radio station every other minute, and this ‘zoom zoom’ song just wouldn’t leave your head. Hands down, the most annoying jingle ever.
The boy. Everytime he leaned his big, bulbous head in to whisper ‘zoom zoom’ I just wanted to slap him twice. And his mother. And why is he wearing a suit? Man that kid is ugly.
The concept. Are they trying to say that their USP is that their cars are fast and fun to drive? Is that their ‘big idea?’ Someone should really inform them of what the U in USP stands for. Morons.
I remember that when the commercial first aired, I took some relief in the fact that these will probably die soon because they are so damned anoying and all they would do is generate bad publicity. Unfortunately, this campaign is still going strong, albeit it has been toned down a bit in the I-want-to-kill-myself-everytime-I-see-this-commercial department. So at the end of the day, the only people to blame are the ones that buy Mazda automobiles.

Yes! Totally agree with you. It is one of the annoying things I see on TV now. Just hate this campaign.. enough already !
Another campaign I hate is the Mastercard’s “…. priceless.” At first, it was pretty smart.. but after all these years, they are running out of subjects to fill in their blanks. Just lame.
Please someone take these off the air. I have to change channels everytime these show up.
