So Western Union travled to all these places, and bought partial bumper stickers to stick on thier Volvos in order to brag to their yuppie friends where they have been?
None of this make any sence for Western Union. None if it.
They’re just using country code bumper stickers to demonstrate that you can use Western Union to transfer $ between countries. (eg. between Sweden and Denmark). It’s not great, but it’s not awful either.
See I got that - but there really isn’t anything saying that they transfer money between countries. [Where is there anything about money in these ads. Maybe they’re a travel company? Or still a telegraph company? {side note, they stopped that this year} Do they sell bumper stickers? Perhaps they just collect them?]
In order for these to work as a message you have to already know what Western Union does. Which isn’t too far fetched to assume people know they transfer money - but then WHY would you spend money advertising your basic purpose to people who already know what you do?
And on top of that, why would you choose to use country bumper stickers as your visual vehicle? What is clever, witty, inspiring, different, or memorable about that?

Bob,

Oh - I was unclear at one point…hold on…
“See I got that - but there really isn’t anything saying that they transfer money between countries.”
Talking about their imagery - the tag line says what they do. But really then they should just use the tag line as their imagery and save ink.
For me it’s all about the loose connection of the imagery and the message.
