The guy (can’t find the latest Wired mag to get his name) that was responsible for the look of Texas Monthly left Texas Monthly and is now responsible for WIRED. You may not have noticed, but WIRED is really looking a lot like Texas Monthly now.

About time. Every time I look at Wired, I wonder when they will finally redesign it. Looks much cleaner now, and it keeps the touch of the old design that has become famous in the meantime, especially for being one of the first full CSS websites out there.
Used to look VERY mid-90′s. Now it looks very modern, very sophisticated.
Now it’s COOL to read wired, instead of feeling like a dork.

New mag design looks great!! Unfortunately you would not feel the same about their website.
I rather would stay with that old one, the new logo looks like it will be changed in close future :/
