There’s something about the camera angles that make these ads look really strange…I feel dizzy when I see them. I love the idea though

I find them very aesthetically pleasing, but are these people really trying to get people interested in knitting?

Well, that definitely is a different take on knitting. The clean and modern (can I say iPod?) style challenges the old “granny” image of knitting and gives it a touch of class. The subject matter makes you smile. So yeah, it’s witty and pretty. I’m just not sure if I am biased since I am a sucker for anything Apple-style, not sure if this will appeal to people other than designers and the likes.

Yeah this definitely isn’t targeting the demographic group you would think of when you hear the word “knitting.” I wonder exactly who they are targeting.

HAHAHA
I-Pod style…couldn’t define it better XD

Kill your phone, kill your clock, do something real, knitting is cool. These are clearly not targeting the stereotypical granny. Really risky campaign, but has to be done. I was in an ad agency for the debate over Buick and Oldsmobile. We got Tiger for Buick (our account), and Oldsmobile closed its doors forever. This is the price of having your target market, well, get old and die without attracting the newer and younger to replace them.

The thing about knitting is that it’s slow and manual. The perfect activity for folks participating in the inevetable backlash against our pervasive, ever-accellerating digital lifestyles.

I love these. Visually arresting, jauntily shot and with knitting making a renaissance amonst the yoof in the UK, I really think they hit the target well (!)

Pure contemporary art, will it appeal knitters? hope to read the marketing numbers

you have to understand a culture to design for it…
don’t you guys read magazines? look at fashion? experience art? knitting is hot right now and not with grannies, but with young people.
and i doubt the client is running these ads in ‘granny’ magazines.
