    Mumbai Traffic Police

Bloody Coasters (for Mumbai Traffic Police) were printed using a special invisible red ink, wich spreads only when moistened. They were placed at tables and bar counters in Mumbai’s prominent bars and watering holes. When a customer places his frosted, moist glass of alchohol on it, the red ink starts spreading; and the normal face starts bleeding. Alongside, the message reads: Just a reminder: Drunken driving kills.

    Agency: Contract, Mumbai, India.

Great idea. Reminds me of paint-by-numbers paper when I was a kid.

Agree with Jose. Very few, if any, restaruant/bar owners in their right minds would use this.

Tom, the vast majority of bars have an agreement with a specific brewer and any ad material/promotion/collateral that is designed is given out to all the bars/pubs who have to display them as part of the agreement.

(I design for the UK’s biggest lager firm and we have this in their pubs, pub managers don’t get much say in the collateral that is displayed but we do bear in mind while designing the items what they would like to use and what will be beneficial)

Unfortunately, while people might not want to see images of people being killed by drunk driving, it’s a fact of life that these idiots are killing people, and we need to try and raise awareness. I’d much rather see advertising trying to prevent drunk driving, than see my mother/sister/fiance dead because some drunk driver didn’t think of the consequences.

This would only produce red stains to clothes.

Didn’t know the owners had not much choice. And I agree Drunk driving is serious and needs to be addressed.

My opinion/reaction though, is this isn’t working. The message I get isn’t connecting drunk driving = danger, loss of life. I get drinking in general = danger, loss of life.

I appreciate the intent and it is a very imaginative idea and execution. I just am not convinced it’s working.
