Solo Mobile
To demonstrate Solo’s walkie talkie feature, interactive transit shelters with built-in, two way radios were placed in Vancouver, Montreal, Toronto, and Calgary. When people pushed the button they were connected live to another bus stop in another city.

That’s great! Super cool. Although the creepy guy that tries to sit next to you on the bus now has a new way to be even creepier thorugh this thing. I love it. Wanna test it out right now

I’m unsure of how effective this actually is, though. I mean, I am not Canadian, but down here in New England (In the US), bus stops are not often full of people. I’m pretty sure that nobody would ever actually be around to “reply” to the walkie talkie message.

Wow, I can’t wait to try those out! I think that it would appeal to the younger demographic while also maybe freaking out those who are in the much older crowd.(Then again, I think my grandparents would think its hella cool!)
Overall, I think that it’s great (but some could definitely think that it’s kinda creepy).

Bus stops are usually packed full in a city like Toronto.

I especially like the “awkward conversation” and “strangers are standing by” tags.

I reckon its a great gimmick, i would definetly use it. Maybe if i get into an interesting conversation i would miss a few buses to keep it up
It reminds me also to the one i saw here in Sydney ( forgot the company ) where they had earphone sockets for you to plug and listen to tracks. People didint use it though….

Cool idea, for sure.
My first thought, though, was “who the hell hasn’t used a walkie talkie?” But a walkie talkie embedded into a bus shelter–now that’s a totally different experience.

What will be the purpose of the walkie talkies just for communicating with the next bus stop. This is interesting, I wonder how long will it last.
