In order to get red eye on an image, the pupils have to be wide open and thus the light must have been off until right before the shutter was released in order for the eyes not to have time to get accustomed to the bright light. Therefore I have to assume that my dishes are only going to appear shiny some time after I opened the drawer/cupboard, probably in short bursts. I also have to assume, since at least three photos of this incident exist, that when they emit bursts of light towards me somebody is taking my picture for advertising purposes at that exact time.
Cool idea, I just don’t think the average consumer knows hardly anything about what causes red eye. From that perspective it would only confuse most people.
