Cloverfield Marketing
Last week i got to check out Transformers which was actually very good. But before the actual movie, there was an intense trailer for a new movie that doesn’t have a name yet. So once i got home I tried to find some more info about the trailer. It turns out that over the past few days, several websites have been released to promote the movie. This looks like a great online marketing campaign ever since the hype created for the Blair Witch a long time ago. Here is a quick summary found here.
So before the transformers movie there is a trailer for a unnamed JJ Abrams movie (right now it’s going under the name “Cloverfield”) The cool thing is, just like Lost, there are secret sites and trails around the internet with clues about the movie.
There is the site 1-18-08.com which used to have just one picture of two faces (some think it’s actually one face). The site has now switched from html to flash and has two pictures in it that you can move around. Also there appears to be a demon in between the two faces in the original picture.
The site ethanhaaswasright.com has a number of puzzles you can solve (if you click the blue star your mail will open, if you send it you will get hints back via email, or you can get a full walk through here) between each puzzle is some video that has more clues about the movie.
There appears to also be a blog that is tied into the movie: ethanhaaswaswrong.blogspot.com.

People are saving its the new Godzilla movie, but maybe that’s what they want you to think. I never saw the most recent Godzilla movie, but I heard the Godzilla baby didn’t die. I kinda hope its not going to be a Godzilla sequel haha

I really don’t no what to think. The first words out of my mouth after i saw the trailer were ‘OH MY GOD!!!’ I am now really looking forward to this movie. I just hope its not gonna be the same as the hype and let down of star wars episode 1. Lol, sorry george. =0)

I’m not actually sure what it is. I’ve been reading all sorts of comments. But something tells me it has more to do with being an end of the world movie. Like the four horsemen or a beast coming up to collect souls or something.
