    Wacom Rebranding

Wacom (best knows for making pen tablets) has a new logo. The identity has been designed by Wolff Olins, them of London 2012 fame and of bright-color propensity (evident throughout the new Wacom web site). I do like the new typeface better, but what is up with that crazy bouncing tri-ball?

    Your toughts?

Are they a division of Viacom? If not, it’s about time they changed it.

meh, not bad. not liking the cheesy gradients however.

wow, the designers at that agency need to lay off the acid and stop watching teletubbies. UGLY.

Bloom gets 10 points for the sarcasm jab!

There are so many things wrong with that little trumpet/perspectival pipe logo. Like the logotype and the color. Hate the little 3D asterisk/gradient explosion artwork.

Ironic that a logo for a product that can help produce works of art (with technical flair) is so poorly executed.

I agree with Donny regarding the logotype… it’s quite nice actually.

The signature typeface is great. Works very well, but any logo that uses a gradient is absolutely horrible. Also, what he hell is it? If people cannot easily identify your brand, you will instantly lose them.

Overall, I give it a 2/10 and again, I think its horrible.

what is the meaning of that 3D logo?

      the old one is better

man for a long time I have stayed quiet on this site, but finally I have to speak up. This logo although popish (and I understand the pen tips/asteric reference) will be dated extremely fast and they will have to rebrand in another 3 years. The typeface is nice though. What is up with this branding agency. They are getting big work but producing poor poor results. All edge with no intelligence.

you should speak up more often

Wow. That bouncing tube-ball is terrible. It could have been cool it it rotated and mophed with any of the new flash 3d tools. Floating around just looks like WEB .02

I like the new use of color, but I don’t we the tube-ball becoming a memorable branding element.

are wolff olins taking the p*ss? their rebranding of ‘bracknell’ here in the UK was well received by most, but GOOD LORD, what is going on with their creative direction at the moment?
