Really Bad Banner!
I don’t remember the last time I showcased a really really bad ad, but thanks to the help of Matthew today is the day. Check out this banner he found on myspace, which includes spelling mistakes, crazy spacing, and a watermark in the image. I am at loss for words!

Qualifiend is a great typo, and I love the idea of taking letters out of words so that the headline will fit: so much easier than resizing stolen images. I also like the save “up to” or “over” 47% depending on where you read. The big payoff, of course, is the promise of 100% accurancy. Wow.

One more thought… 8 typos of one sort or another, in just 46 words? Who is going to call the Guinness people?
The headline should be “Paying too much for layout work?”
Grr.

The person who designed this is very stupid. If this thing is going to be seen my millions of people on Myspace, you’d think to check the spelling, and also demand a higher sum of money…and also, he could have actually bought image from Istockphoto instead of ripping it by demanding more money. 16 year old nephew with Photoshop? I’d guess so.

Perhaps the typo was all part of their plan?
Are we discussing them if it’s spelled correctly?

Heard of Heath Ledger, but none of Heath Isurance. Perhaps a new bloke.

Also the watermark!
If only they cut the image a bit before…

i’ve spend 6 years studying at university…and…
WHY!?!?!?!?!?!?

December 13th, 2007 at 12:32 pm
Yeah, I emailed iStockPhoto yesterday with a copy of the ad and the number of the image (go to their site, search for physician… it’s on the second page).

I’m stunned they spelled ‘too’ right in the headline.

[…] you can see, the above ad features spelling errors, bad grammar, stolen stock image comps (and reversed, no less) and that […]

FYI: A large, high resolution stock photo is 6 bucks on istock.com REPEAT: 6 BUCKS! If they’re not willing to splurge on an legit stock image or better yet, a legit designer it makes me think they probably aren’t really checking out sound, reputable insurance quotes either.

Doesnt really matter if that was their intention, for us to talk about how bad this ad was. Cause basically personally, i wouldnt use them at all due to their ignorance, Dont want to risk myself i reckon.

That. Is. Awesome.

I can’t see a problem here. At least the designer knows about advertising 1×1….
Look how many comments were left and what stirrup it created! Great viral, thou if this is the quality of our next generation’s designers I won’t be afraid of losing my job very soon…
