Clearasil Sicker
The Challenge
Young people are getting more and more skeptical when it comes to classical advertising. Unfortunately, especially in this target group Clearasil faces a decrease in likeability.â€
Solution
With the help of their specially created pimple sticker, they turn the front page of a hip youth magazine into a Clearasil ad. Possibly the smallest tag-on ad ever done. The branding and the web address can only be seen on the reverse side of the sticker to create the teaser reveal effect. Added value: Kids get a little sticker as a gimmick that they can put on their own pictures to create even more buzz.â€

“Sicker” is right. It IS nasty… along with kinda funny and truthful.
For Germans, who typically don’t use the extreme allegories or slices the USA or UK do, this is pretty involving.

I couldn’t help thinking this is similar to an adbust. Yet as always techniques used by adbusters and advertisers start to blur and blend. Ultimately what was ‘controversial’ and had a satirical message just becomes a new technique to be used by advertisers.
Anyway, I still think this is a cool ad. It might not make me buy Clearasil, but it still is kinda hilarious and fun at the same time.
