The old one was great. I don’t like the new one, not one bit.
That’s hideous. Can’t see any logic behind this at all apart from “make it look like all those other webby logos”.

That’s unfortunate. I looks like a “web 2.0″ fluff logo. It’s especially weak since HP just bought EDS for almost $14 billion – Now it’s will be dragging both down.
HP is making some great stuff now – They’ve got this new Sistenet SOA governance product, and their Quality Centre suite kicks ass. Too bad their creative types don’t step up as well.
Also, now that you mention it, I do see “no” in the logo.
No.
1. The older logo gives the “solid, steady” feel, while this one…shows as if it’s a circle which is rolling somewhere
2. It somehow, reminds me of the Pfizer logo 
3. And even with Pfizer’s logo, it doesn’t have the glossy look. Glossy look doesn’t really help to improve the company’s current good image, no?
All in all, it’s a big NO. I hope HP won’t take this one.
I like the shiny effect, but I prefer the old one. New one looks like Japan’s flag.

i shat on it in brand new’s forum and I still think the bubble effect has been overdone and pretty much leaves the question still… Where’s the concept gradient bubble hp?
They could have rebranded without making the new logo look like something from Star Trek.

Wow. Looks so generic now. Has HP just become another apple widget? The mirror/dropshadow effect along with the glossy button effect will not stand the sands of time. Call me nostalgic but I already miss the old logo.

its no change of improvement, the old logo is much better.
I also don’t like the new one. The classic logo was timeless. The new one will be “out” in a few years…
If they release products with this new logo, i’ll buy old products just to rip off that old logo and glue it over the new one.

It reminds me of the Vista logo. I see no problem with this logo. It still has the exact same typeface which is what people recognize the most.
Aside from the colours and gimmickly 3D-ness, there is a more fundamental problem. From a design perspective, the letters are too close to the edge. The lack of room makes you feel claustrophobic. The shape makes me think of their biggest competitor in the PC space.
FYI, they aren’t replacing the old logo, this logo is more a mark to use in brand campaigns and packaging.
Remember the “plus” logo or the “stretch” logo they’ve been using in everything? That is what it replaces.
