Directions Youth Services Centre provides 24 hour support to kids trying to get off the streets of Vancouver for good. Together with Rethink and Lindsay Siu, Jack Griffin donated countless hours to create this awareness campaign. Along with the creative concepts and photography, all the talent, photo assisting, studio time, make-up and wardrobe styling was donated as well.

Nearly two hundred images of poster edges, paper tears and secondary grafitti were photographed around the city then composited with the main talent and background plates, commisioned illustrations and grafitti.

The aesthetic is inspired by the art and posters found around rebellions of political movements. What we hoped to achieve with the piece was awareness, that “The Cigarette is Dead” – that smoking had become, and is, passe.
